Cathy is a Costume Designer working on highly acclaimed and Award-Winning Television Dramas and Films.
Cathy designed both Seasons of the multi Award Winning Derry Girls, winner of IFTA Awards for Best Comedy, Best Writer, and British Screenwriters Award for Best comedy writing. Both Seasons have been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Scripted Comedy, with other nods for Best Editing at the RTS and Best Comedic Performance at the IGN Awards. Cathy’s costumes for Derry Girls have been lauded in the Press, with her realistic interpretation of 90’s fashion hailed as a nostalgia trip.
In addition to her skill and aesthetic, Cathy has a fantastic reputation for her personable nature, adaptability and meticulous attention to detail. She approaches each project with thorough research, and detailed boards, which help her to develop visually stimulating costumes, bringing characters to life. She loves to collaborate with directors and other HODs, working together to realise the creative vision.
Cathy designed the much anticipated Bloodlands starring James Nesbitt and Produced by Hat Trick – Mecurio, due for release later this year. She is currently designing Awakening, a two-part political drama for BBC One exploring the emotive issues around women’s rights in Northern Ireland.
