About
Education: I went to college straight after finishing high school to study HND Make Up artistry with Hairdressing at James Watt College in Greenock. And 2 weeks after finishing college, I got my first TV job on BBC’s Rivercity. That was over 20 years ago and luckily I still love my job and the inudustry as much now as I did then.
Skills: All aspects of hair, wigs and make up.
Career High: I can honestly say that my career highlight is still getting to do my dream job after all these years. However, I definitely had a major ‘pinch me’ moment seeing my work for the HBO drama Half Man on billboards all over NYC. I have been lucky enough to have quite a few proud moments in my career, but this one just hit a little different. Especially for a job that meant so much to me. I was definitely the smiliest person walking around New York that day.
Inspiration:My favourite part of any job is working collaboratively with other creative departments. As a team we come together to bring a script to life, and there is no better feeling than collaborating with other HODs with a shared creative vision. Our passion and ideas inspire each other and so I find my peers give me inspiration on every project. I am also inspired every day by the human lives surrounding me, just the people you might pass on the street or other characters in TV and Film. I pride myself in cultivating a positive environment on my make up truck; it’s really important to me that cast always feel safe and supported by me and my team. As a Make Up Designer I am constantly ‘people watching’ without even realising it and I find inspiration in the everyday.
