About
Education: BA in Film Production specialising in Cinematography at The Arts Institute, Bournemouth
Skills: I’ve worked extensively with 16mm/ 35mm film and digital formats and have considerable experience in both location and studio lighting, including blue/ green screen work for VFX and car interiors. I often operate ‘A’ Camera and have remote-head experience. Currently I’m discovering how new technologies are aligning with the cinematographer’s role.
Inspiration: I look to photography, the arts, nature, design, architecture as well as other moving image work and am inspired by Diane Arbus, Guy Bordin, Clémentine Schneidermann, Alec Soth, Jeff Wall, Francesca Woodman, Barbara Hepworth, Claudette Johnson, Donald Judd, Richard Serra, Dan Pearson, Vita Sackville-West, John Pawson, Dieter Rams, Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra, Clio Barnard, Jonathan Glazer, Todd Haynes, Lynne Ramsay, Charlotte Bruus Christensen, Roger Deakins, Greig Fraser, Ed Lachman, Matthew Libatique, Seamus McGarvey, Robbie Ryan, Linus Sandgren, Ari Wegner and Bradford Young.
Career High:It was fantastic to see the overwhelmingly positive reaction of critics and audiences to the Swiss feature ’Platzspitzbaby’. The film is a powerful mother-daughter story based on real-life events and was directed by Pierre Monnard, who I’ve been working with since film school.
