About

Education: Zoë studied at the University of South Wales’ renowned Newport Film School before transferring to the Fine Art department to gain a BA (Hons) in Fine Art: Contemporary Media. She later gained a postgraduate PGCE PCET (Post Compulsory Education and Training) from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Skills:

Taking a script through idea to reality; working in creative collaboration with directors producers and actors to deliver the best possible costume design elements.

Clear communication and collaboration throughout departments – twenty years of experience on set and behind the scenes, in the workroom, fitting room and the design office.

Working as a part of a large team to working in a team of two or three and always delivering the same level of costume design – the devil is in the details!

As an all round creative; from life drawing and video editing to writing and recording music. Using digital Illustration on various platforms including at expert level on Adobe Creative Suite.

Financing, budget breakdowns and cost predictions across a variety of budgetary levels.

Working as a manager; HR and wellbeing support to crew I have employed; for which I have extensive training certifications

Working in a workroom as well as overseeing one; experience in High End period costume shows at the highest band levels.

Using my skills as a trained teacher; delivering training both on set and in lectures, and using CPD models through every work opportunity.

Languages: English and a tiny bit of Polish and Czech!

Inspiration: Growing up watching Hammer Horror films late at night on Channel 4 and having been lucky enough to grow up in the home of Cinema meant that I saw a lot of films at a very young age, creating a love of Mis-En-Scene that has continued throughout adult life.

Career High: Being a part of the design team on some of the largest period shows to be made, the highlight of which was probably living in Prague for a year to make The Musketeers for BBC, which screened in 360 countries worldwide. We remade the entire cast’s wardrobes from the ground up and travelled all over Europe to fabric and hire houses to make that happen.
