Check out the many services they can offer productions…
Drawn from various parts of the military, each Bare Arms technical advisor has served for a minimum of 10 years and has significant frontline combat experience. They have all spent time on set, both in front and behind the camera, and fully understand the specific needs and constraints of productions. They are professional, calm under pressure, resourceful and proactive. Each of the advisors has a wealth of military knowledge as well as their own specialist skills such as firearms, screen combat and motion capture. The Bare Arms advisers are most effective when brought on as early as the script stage and embedded into the production team.
Firearms Training Courses
Bare Arms is the home of the Theatrical Firearms Courses, a series of unique 3-day courses designed to teach performers how to be safe and competent with firearms on screen. One of the only theatrical specific courses in Europe to use real firearms on Olympic standard ranges, they have become a must-do course for actors and stunt performers. They are Spotlight registered and former students include, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Rebecca Ferguson, Callum Turner and Alfred Enoch.
Firearms & Equipment
Bare Arms are licensed to provide all manner of weaponry to the theatrical industry and operate with Section 5 authority. This allows their armourers to supervise the use of real, prohibited weapons on set. They have supplied many different items of specialist equipment to the industry, such as functioning parachutes, military equipment and prop weaponry.
Bare Arms have access to a number of live fire ranges, where they can instruct principle actors, film technical sequences including ultra-slow-mo, record sound and film bullet impacts.
Bare Arms performers train and work together in small teams on projects that require a physicality or a skill that normal background supporting artists cannot realistically portray. The teams are made up of a combination of current and ex-military combat personnel, motion capture performers, stunt register trainees and martial artists.
All of their performers are firearms specialists whose proficiency is assured through their in-house Theatrical Firearms Courses. Each team is led by a dedicated adviser who acts as an on-set supervisor and action co-ordinator if required. Their well-drilled, professional teams have experience in complex scene coordination ensuring that they can deliver a realistic and hard-hitting performance with the minimum of rehearsal time and fuss.
Aircraft & Vehicles
Sourcing the right vehicles or aircraft for a project can often be a huge technical and logistical challenge. Bare Arms specialise in tracking down and obtaining some of the rarest military machinery in the world. Bare Arms can supply the specialist drivers and pilots needed to operate these incredible working bits of history, as well as the mechanics and ground crews to keep them working on the road and in the sky.
Coordinating the vehicles and aircraft safely on set, especially during complex large-scale action sequences in and amongst actors can be a challenge. Having a Bare Arms advisor on set to assist can be invaluable.
Locations & MoD Liaison
Military locations and Ministry of Defence bases can be fantastic resources for filming or unit basing, but they can be notoriously difficult to access, especially at short notice.
Bare Arms can act as location scouts for a variety of military style locations, and if they are MoD property can act as a liaison to help expedite what can be a lengthy approval process.
Depending on the project and its potential positive impact on the military, the MoD may be able to offer more support, including personnel, vehicles and equipment.
In addition to providing specialist performers, Bare Arms can also provide the specific costume required for any role – fitted to the artist in advance of the shoot. Bare Arms will ensure their performers arrive at unit base in their fitted costume ready for set.
Bare Arms provides highly specialised physical training and performance development for military acting roles, either one-on-one training or boot-camp style. This can include body transformation and/or performance coaching as well as in-depth character development.
