TOUFIQUE ALI

(he/him)

Camera Operator

As a former shooting producer director in television broadcast from 2008 – 2020, Touf knows a fair amount about being on set; planning content programming and developing content slates. He has worked in documentary, music entertainment and branded/digital content fields for various companies throughout his career including MTV UK, MTV Australia, Endemol UK, BBC, BBC Three, YouTube and Vice Canada. He was head of production at a branded content company from 2018 – 2020 in Bristol and managed a team of 7, including editors, graphic designers and other producer directors; and has strong experience directing talent and being client facing as well as managing shoot expectations and deliverables.

In 2020, Toufique realised after attending Camerimage Film Festival in Poland that he had always had a camera in his hand on every shoot he had ever done; and after spending an inordinate amount of time with a bunch of camera people, he decided to solely focus on working in the camera department.

He took a step into television drama by becoming a camera trainee on Midsomer Murders, series 22, and he hasn’t looked back. He then subsequently worked as a kit room technician at S+O Media in West London for 2 years before going freelance as a camera assistant and B cam operator. Since then, he has been a 1st AC and Camera Operator on many short films and has completed his MA in Filmmaking with his specialism in Cinematography in the Summer of 2025; and he intends to focus mainly on scripted narrative content, music video, and commercials as a camera operator with a long-term goal of becoming a camera-operating Director of Photography.
