After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Television from Edinburgh Napier University, Rowena spent over four years working as a kit room and sound assistant at Hotcam Broadcast Equipment before going freelance as a PSC sound recordist in 2018.
Her sound journey began in reality television, a genre known for fast-paced shoot days and unpredictable outfits for lavving up, giving Rowena a strong foundation in working quickly, calmly and efficiently. Since then, her career has expanded into feature documentaries, commercials, branded content and comedy. She particularly enjoys working on sensitive subject documentaries, where building trust with contributors and helping them feel at ease is key. A people person at heart, Rowena loves meeting and collaborating with new crew and contributors, finding any excuse for a good wee chat.
Previous clients and brands include Nike, Deliveroo, Comic Relief, Netflix, The Guardian, Dior, Hotels.com, Sky and BBC Studios.
Outside of work, Rowena can usually be found escaping to warmer climes to surf, enthusiastically attending Pilates classes to ensure her spine continues to tolerate wearing a sound bag, sewing and indulging in general craftiness or heading out for a good dance.
