Austen is a Wales-based Focus Puller specialising in both 35mm and 16mm film, alongside digital cinematography. Working across film and television, he is known for his precision and adaptability in demanding shooting environments.
His most recent feature film credit as B Camera Focus Puller is A Colt Is My Passport, directed by Gareth Evans and shot by cinematographers Sam Thomas and Tomoi Summers. The film stars Sope Dirisu, Tim Roth, Jack Reynor, and Lucy Boynton, and is expected to be released in late 2026 or early 2027.
Austen’s television work includes A Camera Focus Puller on Black Mirror (Season 7, episode Hotel Reverie), shot by cinematographer Philipp Haberlandt BVK and starring Emma Corrin. In 2025, Austen also completed B Camera Focus Pulling on the six-part Channel 4 series Falling, directed by Peter Hoar with cinematography by Sam Care BSC, scheduled for release in Spring 2026.
He previously served as A Camera Focus Puller on the critically acclaimed BBC drama Lost Boys and Fairies, directed by James Kent and shot by Philipp Haberlandt BVK, which won an International Emmy Award.
Alongside drama, Austen has worked across fashion and commercial campaigns for global brands including Nike, Adidas, Gucci, Hermès, Vogue, and Ray-Ban, frequently collaborating with cinematographer Isaac Eastgate.
